Pulling Silk
This specific soft form of energetic development is unique to tai chi and yet extremely beneficial to all internal arts practitioners. Pulling Silk can only be developed through soft application of body motion; through the development of Pulling Silk, the body softens further and more deeply.
The Pulling Silk technique is practised with the purpose of generating incredible effects in body-mind-chi, including:
- De-contracting and soothing the nervous system, releasing the body’s deeply bound, long-term tension, working from the inside out.
- Generating abundant and nurturing yin energy.
- Increasing the circulation of blood and interstitial fluid (between cells).
- Boosting the immune system.
- Raising the threshold of overall health and vitality.
- Settling the mind and increasing awareness.
Everyone will learn the foundation techniques of Pulling Silk through the gentle, repetitive movements of Tai Chi Circling Hands (see a video demonstration of Paul’s 12-circle set below).
Then, the group will split into:
- Those who practise a tai chi form will learn specific methods for deepening Pulling Silk in your form.
- Those who do not practise a tai chi form will learn more content geared towards expanding the depth and range of your Pulling Silk technique within Tai Chi Circling Hands.
Tai Chi Practitioners—will learn methods for dramatically upgrading their form by truly moving into chi work, and thereby superseding physical mechanics.
Qigong + Bagua Practitioners—will learn how methods for developing incredibly yin yet powerful energy, that can later be applied to developing the yin aspect of their art of choice.
